In my last post, I explained that each segment (except the lowest one) will be cast on top of the previous segment, using what's known as "match casting". This way, they will match perfectly when they are stacked to form the tower. The first segment was lowered into the slot on the other side of the structure, leaving its top flush with the top surface of the structure. It will be leveled (see previous blog entry for photos of the mechanism), and forms will be constructed on top of it for the next segment.
